Home Energy Decisions is operated from the United States. You can reach us at hello@homeenergydecisions.com.

Informational use only

The Site provides general, educational information about home energy topics. It is not professional engineering, HVAC, financial, legal, tax, or safety advice, and it does not create a client relationship. Always consult qualified professionals and follow local codes, manufacturer guidance, and utility requirements before acting.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site. If you use the Site on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Tools and calculators

Our on-page planners and estimators run in your browser. They rely on the inputs you provide and high-level assumptions; outputs are directional and not guarantees of costs, savings, or performance. You are responsible for validating results before making decisions. We may update assumptions or logic at any time.

Acceptable use

• Do not use the Site for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or misleading purposes.
• Do not attempt to scrape, crawl, or bulk export content without our prior written permission.
• Do not interfere with or disrupt the Site, including by introducing malware, excessive requests, or reverse engineering non-public code.
• Do not misrepresent your affiliation with us.

Intellectual property

The Site, including text, graphics, code, and trademarks, is owned by Home Energy Decisions or our licensors and is protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to access and use the Site for your own non-commercial purposes. You may quote or link to our content with attribution. Any broader reuse requires our written permission.

Third-party services

The Site may display third-party links, Google Analytics, and (if enabled) Google AdSense advertising. We do not control third-party sites or services. Your interactions with them are governed by their terms and policies.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that results will be accurate or meet your requirements.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SITE IS LIMITED TO ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100).

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Home Energy Decisions and our affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Site or your violation of these Terms.

Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and the United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. The exclusive venue for disputes is the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, unless applicable law requires otherwise. You and we waive any objection to jurisdiction or venue in those courts.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Site or the law. We will post the updated Terms with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
